Engineered Garments falls under the umbrella of the renewed Nepenthes company and is led by Daiki Suzuki. The menswear label is a representation of Suzuki’s trajectory, and combines a childhood obsession with outdoor sports, with a later love-affair with vintage American clothing and the years of wisdom he acquired while working for what would become his own label’s parent company. Founded by a Japanese, but without a doubt American, the NewYork-based label has a clear goal in mind: keeping local craftsmanship alive by turning vintage American workwear and tailoring into something new and of its own through the process of deconstruction.
